The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has given property owners in Abuja who altered land use without approval a final 14-day grace period to pay a ₦5 million penalty or face enforcement action.
A statement by his aide, Lere Olayinka, said the grace period begins Tuesday, November 11, following the expiration of an earlier 30-day deadline issued in September.
The sanction targets owners who converted residential buildings to commercial use in areas such as Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse II, and Garki.
Defaulters who pay will receive new title documents, including a fresh Certificate of Occupancy valid for 99 years.
Olayinka clarified that the exercise excludes properties already revoked for non-development or non-payment of ground rent.
Prominent individuals affected include ex-APC chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, former Osun governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, ex-Supreme Court justices Aloma Mukhtar and Atanda Fatai-Williams, and NNPC Limited.
