Residents of Ibadan on Friday protested alleged land grabbing by the Oyo State Government in the ongoing Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project.
The peaceful protest, which caused traffic congestion around Iwo Road and the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, drew participants from Ido, Lagelu, Ona Ara, Akinyele, Oluyole, and Egbeda LGAs.
A protester, Akeem Olaiya, said residents supported the project but opposed what they described as the government’s unfair expansion of the right-of-way beyond the 150 metres approved under former Governor Rashidi Ladoja.
Protesters accused the government of attempting to displace them without adequate compensation.
Security operatives were on ground to maintain order, while officials had yet to respond to the allegations as of press time.
