The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued an updated travel advisory, warning its citizens against visiting several Nigerian states due to terrorism, kidnappings, and violent crime.

The FCDO advised against all travel to Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, and Gombe States, citing persistent insurgent threats. It also restricted travel to Bauchi, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, and Taraba States to essential purposes only.

In the South, the advisory cautioned against travel to riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States accessible by boat.

The FCDO warned that “no travel can be guaranteed safe,” urging British nationals to avoid large gatherings, stay alert in public places, and ensure strong security arrangements.
