Former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, has dismissed as fake news reports claiming he accused Vice President Kashim Shettima of creating Boko Haram.
In a statement from his media office in Abuja, Sheriff described the publication titled “It’s Not Me, It’s Shettima Who Created Boko Haram, Sheriff Reveals” as false and malicious, saying he never granted such an interview.
He said the report was aimed at tarnishing his image and stirring division among North-East leaders, stressing that he and Shettima share mutual respect and have no rift.
Sheriff added that his legal team had been directed to identify and prosecute those behind the defamatory content.
He urged the public to disregard the story and reaffirmed his commitment to peace and national unity.
