The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on Nigerians to unite against terrorism and religious extremism, saying the time has come to end insecurity and reconcile the aggrieved.
He made the call while receiving the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Bishop Wale Oke, at his palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Oba Ladoja lamented that Nigeria had battled terrorism for over a decade, leading to thousands of deaths, displacement, and massive property loss, despite huge government spending.
He said, “Terrorists don’t distinguish between Muslims and Christians. They see everyone as prey. We must work together and placate those who feel aggrieved so that peace can return.”
Earlier, Bishop Oke congratulated Ladoja on his emergence as the 44th Olubadan and urged President Bola Tinubu to partner with world leaders, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, to end killings and attacks across Nigeria.
Oke cautioned against any external invasion but thanked Trump for raising global concern over religious violence, urging collaboration with the Nigerian government to “root out radical groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP” for lasting peace.
