Commuters along Fika Link Street in Kubwa, Abuja, were thrown into panic yesterday when a herd of cows blocked the busy road, causing heavy traffic and confusion among residents.
Video footage showed terrified school children running for safety as the animals surrounded them, while motorists honked repeatedly in a failed attempt to clear the way.
Eyewitnesses said the herders at the scene made little effort to control the animals.
The incident has renewed public concern over the growing menace of stray cows on Abuja roads, a recurring safety risk that authorities appear to have ignored.
Residents are calling for urgent government intervention and stricter enforcement of livestock control laws to prevent further chaos and protect lives.
As of press time, officials were yet to comment on the incident.
