Yiaga Africa has announced the deployment of 687 observers for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
Chair of the 2025 Anambra Election Mission, Dr. Asmau Maikudi, disclosed this at a pre-election press conference in Awka, noting that the observers would monitor INEC’s preparations, logistics, election security, and voter turnout.
She identified six local government areas, Orumba North, Orumba South, Ogbaru, Ihiala, Nnewi South, and Aguata as potential security flashpoints requiring increased vigilance.
Maikudi expressed concern over voter apathy, citing low registration and PVC collection rates, and warned that turnout could fall below 20 per cent.
She emphasized that the credibility of the poll would depend on efficiency, integrity, and impartiality, urging stakeholders to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
