A U.S. congressman has backed former President Donald Trump’s claims of large-scale killings of Christians in Nigeria, announcing that a detailed report on the issue will soon be released.

The lawmaker said the forthcoming report would provide new evidence of what he described as “religious persecution of Christians” in Nigeria, an assertion that could heighten diplomatic tension between Washington and Abuja.

Nigeria’s government has repeatedly denied such allegations, insisting that insecurity affects citizens across religious and ethnic lines.

The U.S. legislator urged Abuja to cooperate with investigators and provide verifiable data on violent incidents, stressing the need for transparency.

The move is expected to draw renewed global attention to Nigeria’s human rights record and may influence future U.S. policy toward the country.
