The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Gbenga Komolafe, has expressed optimism that Nigeria’s crude oil output will soon increase following the completion of a new offshore production facility.

Komolafe disclosed this after inspecting the EMEM Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO), vessel undergoing final conversion at Dubai Drydocks World in the UAE. The facility, owned by Oriental Energy Resources Limited, will be deployed to the Okwok Field offshore Nigeria.

He described the development as a major step toward meeting Nigeria’s OPEC+ production quota and boosting investor confidence.

The EMEM FPSO, a converted Nordic Mistral tanker has a storage capacity of one million barrels and can process 40,000 barrels per day.

Oriental Energy Vice Chairman, Engr. Goni Sheikh, commended NUPRC’s support, describing the Commission as “a true business facilitator.”
