The United States chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has written to the U.S. Congress, rejecting claims of a genocide against Christians in Nigeria and describing the allegations as exaggerated and misleading.
The APC USA said the “Christian genocide” narrative promoted by some groups and politicians does not reflect the true situation, stressing that Nigeria’s security problems arise from terrorism, banditry, and communal violence, not religious persecution.
The group urged U.S. lawmakers and the international community to rely on verified data and objective assessments rather than politically driven claims, warning that false reports could damage Nigeria’s global image and diplomatic ties.
The letter is part of the ruling party’s ongoing effort to counter narratives that misrepresent Nigeria’s complex security challenges as religiously motivated.
