Abuja is set to host the 2025 Annual Conference of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), from November 12 to 13, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expected to declare the event open at the Presidential Villa Banquet Hall.
Over 500 participants, including top government officials, diplomats, media executives, and business leaders, are expected at the two-day conference, which will continue at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Conference Centre, Jahi.
According to a statement by NGE President, Eze Anaba, and General Secretary, Onuoha Ukeh, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, and ThisDay/Arise Chairman, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, will co-chair the conference, while Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, will deliver the keynote address.
With the theme “Democratic Governance and National Cohesion: The Role of Editors” and sub-theme “Electoral Integrity and Trust Deficit: What Nigerians Expect in 2027,” the event will feature papers by Prof. Awa Kalu (SAN), Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, Gen. Lucky Irabor (rtd), and Prof. Abiodun Adeniyi.
The Guild said the conference provides a platform for editors to engage policymakers and discuss issues of governance, national unity, and the evolving challenges in journalism.
