The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed an Oyo State High Court order approving the PDP national convention scheduled for November 15-16, 2025, insisting that the Abuja Federal High Court judgment halting the event remains binding.
Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo High Court had granted an ex parte motion approving the convention, contrary to Justice James Omotosho’s Abuja ruling last Friday restraining the PDP from holding it until due process is followed.
Justice Omotosho had ordered the party to comply with its constitution, issue a 21-day notice to INEC, and adhere to the Electoral Act before convening the event.
Reacting through his aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the Abuja judgment supersedes the Oyo ex parte order, which he described as temporary and inferior.
“There was a judgment on Friday. Another court now gave an ex parte order. Is the High Court in Ibadan an appeal court?” Wike queried.
The conflicting rulings have deepened uncertainty over the PDP’s planned convention.
