The Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), has called for a mass civil disobedience in the Southeast, claiming that its detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu, is dying and warning that the Anambra governorship election must not hold.

Led by Simon Ekpa, BRGIE said its action serves as both a protest and an ultimatum, insisting that “no referendum, no election” would be allowed in what it describes as Biafra land.

The declaration has heightened tension ahead of the polls, with security forces on alert for possible unrest.

While the Federal Government maintains that the election will proceed, BRGIE argues that the Igbo people have lost faith in Nigeria’s political system amid concerns over Kanu’s health.

Observers fear the group’s stance could impact voter turnout and threaten the credibility of the election.
