The Young Progressives Party (YPP), has expelled Hon. Uzokwe Lovepet Ifeanyi Peter, member representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, over alleged gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

In a communiqué issued after its 28th National Working Committee (NWC), meeting in Abuja, YPP National Publicity Secretary Egbeola Wale Martins said the expulsion followed petitions and video evidence confirming Uzokwe’s anti-party conduct.

The party also dismissed Uzokwe’s claim to be YPP’s national leader, clarifying that no one has replaced the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah in that position.

On national issues, the YPP urged President Bola Tinubu to end what it called “years of excuses” in addressing insecurity and alleged religious killings, following the U.S. designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

The party criticised the government’s failure to prosecute terrorism sponsors and condemned the policy of granting amnesty to insurgents while victims remain in IDP camps.

“If this U.S. action compels urgency from the Nigerian government, it will be a welcome development. Peace cannot thrive without justice,” the communiqué stated.
