Navy Chief Abbas Redeploys 65 Rear Admirals in Major Shake-Up

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, has approved the redeployment of 65 Rear Admirals across various commands, institutions, and departments of the Nigerian Navy and Armed Forces.

Director of Naval Information, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, announced this on Monday, describing it as part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency following Vice Admiral Abbas’ assumption of office as the 23rd indigenous Naval Chief.

Key appointments include Rear Admiral Suleiman Abdullahi as Chief of Logistics, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed as Commandant of the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Musa Katagum as Chief of Operations, and Rear Admiral Fredrick Damtong as Chief of Naval Engineering.

Others are Rear Admiral Abdul-Rasheed Haruna as Chief of Training, Rear Admiral Gideon Kachim as Chief of Defence Administration, and Rear Admiral Abiodun Alade as Flag Officer Commanding, Logistics Command.

Adams-Aliu said the postings aim to strengthen command structure, improve service delivery, and reposition the Navy for greater efficiency in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain.
