The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has arrested 59 suspects during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts across Abuja.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said in a statement on Sunday that the operation, ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, followed actionable intelligence on rising criminal activities.

The raids, conducted in areas including Apo, Kubwa, Karu, Karmo, Life Camp, Wuse, Mabushi, Nyanya, Zuba, and Tungan Maje, led to the recovery of illicit drugs, weapons, and stolen items.

Adeh said the suspects are being screened, and those found culpable will face prosecution.

In a separate development, police have launched an investigation into an alleged suicide in Lugbe, where a man in his early thirties was found dead in his residence on Saturday night.

Detectives have secured evidence for analysis, while an autopsy is underway to determine the cause of death.

CP Igweh assured residents of sustained security operations and urged continued cooperation with the police to ensure peace across the FCT, especially during the festive season.
