Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has declared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “dead” in Ekiti State, saying all its governorship aspirants are “fooling themselves.”

Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Monday, Fayose said the PDP no longer has any credible structure in the state, adding that Governor Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) deserves re-election in 2026.

“In the first place, where is the PDP in Ekiti? The party is totally moribund — just like at the national level,” Fayose said. “I am still in PDP, but Oyebanji is doing well, and I won’t condemn what is good simply because I’m in the opposition.”

He described Oyebanji as “the man Ekiti wants till 2030,” praising his performance in office.

Reacting, Ekiti PDP Chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, dismissed Fayose’s remarks as “unfortunate,” insisting the party remains strong and united ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
