The Ekiti State Government has dismissed reports claiming it is constructing a new ₦1.8 billion governor’s lodge in Abuja, describing the story as false and misleading.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, clarified in a statement on Monday that the budgetary provision cited was for completing an existing project initiated by former Governor Kayode Fayemi, not a new construction.
He said the project had stalled due to inadequate funding and that Governor Biodun Oyebanji only approved funds to complete it in line with his continuity and fiscal responsibility policy.
Olatunbosun explained that the property is a permanent state asset for successive administrations, adding that Governor Oyebanji still uses rented accommodation during visits to Abuja.
He urged the public to disregard the report, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to transparency and prudent management of state resources.
