An Oyo State High Court has cleared the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and its acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to hold the party’s national convention on November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan.
Justice A. L. Akintola gave the ruling on Monday, vacating an earlier order of a Federal High Court in Abuja that had restrained the PDP from proceeding with the exercise.
The Abuja court had, on October 31, halted preparations for the convention following a suit by three PDP members, Austin Nwachukwu, Amah Nnanna, and Turnah George, who alleged breaches of the party’s constitution and due process.
With the latest decision, the Oyo court has effectively cleared the way for the convention to hold as scheduled.
