The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued six kidnapped victims unhurt following a gun battle with bandits in Donko, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the operation took place on Saturday, November 2, after about a dozen bandits invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga, and Unguwar Chiroma villages, abducting ten residents.

Acting on intelligence, a team of policemen and local vigilantes intercepted the kidnappers near the Zamfara border and engaged them in a fierce shootout, forcing the hoodlums to flee and abandon six captives.

The victims, all from the Magawata and Ukuhu families, have been reunited with their relatives after medical checks.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the officers for their bravery and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

Search efforts continue to free the remaining victims and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
