Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied authoring a viral social media post mocking U.S. President Donald Trump over his recent threat of military action in Nigeria.
In a statement on Monday, Akpabio’s media aide, Eseme Eyiboh, described the post as “completely fabricated and mischievous,” clarifying that the Senate President “never made such comments publicly or privately.”
He said the post, shared by a platform known as Rant HQ, was a deliberate attempt to cause diplomatic tension and falsely used Akpabio’s photo to lend it credibility.
Eyiboh stressed that Akpabio holds Trump in high regard and would never interfere in another country’s internal affairs.
He urged the public to ignore the fake post and cautioned media platforms against spreading unverified content.
