U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, has threatened possible military action against Nigeria if the government fails to stop the alleged killing of Christians.

Hegseth made the remark in response to a Truth Social post by U.S. President Donald Trump, who accused Nigeria of tolerating attacks on Christians and ordered the Pentagon to prepare for possible action.

Trump wrote that America would “stop all aid to Nigeria” and might intervene “guns-a-blazing” if the attacks continue.

Echoing Trump’s stance, Hegseth said on X: “The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria must end immediately. Either the Nigerian government protects them, or we will act.”

President Bola Tinubu, however, dismissed Trump’s comments, affirming that Nigeria upholds religious freedom and remains committed to protecting citizens of all faiths.
