President Bola Tinubu is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria, the Presidency announced on Saturday.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, said the meeting would focus on counterterrorism cooperation and clarifying misconceptions about terrorist attacks in Nigeria.

“President Trump helped Nigeria by authorising arms sales, and President Tinubu has effectively utilised them in the fight against terrorism,” Bwala wrote on X, adding that both leaders would address claims that terrorists target only Christians.

The meeting, which may hold either in Abuja or Washington, follows Trump’s recent accusation that the Nigerian government ignores attacks on Christians.

He threatened to halt U.S. aid or take military action if the violence continues.

Bwala, however, said the meeting would strengthen bilateral relations and promote peace, stability, and security between both nations.
