The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has sued Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas for allegedly failing to probe claims that lawmakers pay between ₦1 million and ₦3 million to present bills and motions.
Filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja (FHC/L/CS/2214/2025), SERAP seeks an order compelling both leaders to refer the bribery claims to anti-corruption agencies and protect Hon. Ibrahim Auyo, who made the allegations, as a whistleblower.
Auyo, an APC lawmaker from Jigawa, alleged in a viral video that members must pay to present legislative items.
SERAP described the allegations as a betrayal of public trust and urged the court to compel the National Assembly to investigate and ensure transparency.
No date has been fixed for the hearing.
