American rapper Nicki Minaj has praised U.S. President Donald Trump for designating Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” over alleged religious persecution.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Minaj expressed gratitude for the freedom of worship in her country, urging global attention to religious oppression.
“No group should ever be persecuted for practising their faith,” she wrote. “Thank you to the President and his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian.”
Trump’s designation, announced in Washington, could trigger U.S. sanctions or diplomatic pressure on Nigeria over its handling of religious freedom.
Minaj’s remarks have sparked wide reactions online, with many fans applauding her stance on human rights.
