The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Nura Auwal, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in Lugbe, Abuja.
The victim’s father reported the incident to the Trademore Police Division on October 24, 2025, after the boy returned home in tears, revealing he had been assaulted by the suspect.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly accosted the boy in a bush, assaulted him, and gave him ₦200, threatening to kill him if he told anyone.
The police swiftly launched an investigation, tracked, and arrested the suspect in the Lugbe area. The victim received medical attention at the police hospital in Garki.
Preliminary findings suggest the suspect had previously engaged in similar acts, allegedly introduced to the practice by an acquaintance in Katsina State.
The police commissioner condemned the act, reaffirming the command’s zero-tolerance policy towards sexual and gender-based violence. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
