The All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Nigeria Police to investigate Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, over alleged vote-buying comments made during a campaign rally.

APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, accused Soludo of promising cash rewards to All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), supporters based on their electoral performance, describing the move as “desperate and anti-democratic.”

At the October 25 rally in Umunze, Soludo reportedly pledged ₦1 million to each ward that delivers victory for APGA, and additional prizes for top-performing wards.

However, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, denied the allegation, saying Soludo’s remarks were meant to encourage voter turnout, not induce votes.

The call for investigation comes ahead of the November 8 Anambra governorship election.
