Yakubu Gowon University, formerly the University of Abuja, has commenced the process of appointing a substantive Vice-Chancellor.
An internal memo signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic), Mustapha Tanimu, invited Senate members to the 92nd Extra-Ordinary Meeting slated for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Academic Conference Centre.
A key agenda is the election of a Senate representative to the Joint Senate/Council Selection Board, the body overseeing the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment.
Sources said stakeholders are closely monitoring the process following the institution’s recent renaming in honour of former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (rtd).
