The Chief Executive Officer of Abuja City Journal (ACJ), Mr. Sylvanus Foluso Ojo, has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting education, moral values, and intellectual excellence among Nigerian youths through its annual National Essay Competition.

Speaking in an interview, the ACJ boss said the initiative was conceived to celebrate and encourage young Nigerians who uphold integrity and value learning at a time when many are swayed by social trends that promote questionable ideals.

“The idea was born out of a desire to celebrate those who still believe in hard work, discipline, and intellectual engagement,” he explained. “Over the years, the competition has evolved into a national platform for mentorship, exposure, and recognition.”

Mr Ojo revealed that the current edition of the competition slated for November 23 has attracted over 10,000 entries nationwide, a development he described as a reflection of the resilience and intellectual curiosity of Nigerian youths.

According to him, this year’s edition aims to deepen students’ critical thinking and moral consciousness while inspiring them to propose innovative solutions to national challenges.

“Our goal is to nurture a generation of leaders who think and act with integrity, creativity, and patriotism,” he said, urging young Nigerians to remain steadfast in their values and use their voices to drive positive change.

He added that the long-term vision of the National Essay Competition is to restore faith in education and build a generation that embraces ethical values and uses knowledge as a tool for national transformation.
