The Federal Government has begun disbursing funds under the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), to boost staff welfare and productivity across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

A statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, quoted the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, as describing the move as a major milestone under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Alausa said over 9,000 staff members from 219 federal and state-owned institutions have benefited in the first phase, representing 28 per cent of 33,000 verified applicants.

The disbursement covers both academic and non-academic staff in a 30:70 ratio.

He noted that the initiative aims not only to provide financial relief but also to rebuild the foundation of Nigeria’s knowledge economy.

Alausa reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability, promising quarterly reports and monitoring to ensure effective fund utilization.
