The Abuja City International Half Marathon has received official World Athletics Label status for its second edition, slated for Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Nigeria’s capital.
The recognition, confirmed on the World Athletics website, places Abuja among global cities hosting internationally certified road races, a major boost for Nigeria’s athletics landscape.
World Athletics Label Races are awarded to events that meet strict standards in course accuracy, anti-doping control, medical support, and international participation.
Managing Director of NSML, Yetunde Olopade, described the recognition as “a testament to partnership excellence and Nigeria’s growing credibility in global road racing.”
Similarly, PremiumTrust Bank MD, Dr. Emmanuel Efe Emefienim, said the certification reflects confidence in Nigeria’s ability to host world-class sporting events.
Registration for the 2025 race is ongoing, with organisers promising a high turnout of elite local and international athletes under the supervision of World Athletics officials.
