The new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has vowed to strengthen intelligence-led operations and prioritise the welfare of military personnel.
Speaking during the handover ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Oluyede, who succeeded Gen. Christopher Musa, said Nigeria’s security challenges, terrorism, banditry, cybercrime, and maritime threats require a coordinated, intelligence-based approach.
He pledged to deepen inter-agency collaboration, leverage technology for early threat detection, and enhance capacity-building across the armed forces.
“The welfare of our officers and men remains central to operational effectiveness. Their sacrifices will be recognised and rewarded,” Oluyede assured.
Outgoing CDS Musa praised Oluyede’s professionalism and urged full cooperation with the new leadership to strengthen national security.
