State chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Police to investigate the party’s National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, over alleged mismanagement of party funds. The call was made on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, during a press briefing in Abuja.

The chairman of the Forum of SDP Chairmen and Lagos State chapter chairman, Femi Olaniyi, disclosed this while addressing journalists. He said the party’s National Working Committee was already on track to expel Gabam and other executives over alleged misconduct and financial irregularities.

Olaniyi accused Gabam of betraying the trust of Nigerians and the legacy of the party’s founding leaders, including Baba Gana Kingibe, Olu Falae, and others “who penned their names in gold in the history of the SDP.”

The forum insisted that the funds in question must be returned, urging the EFCC and Police to conduct a thorough investigation into Gabam’s financial dealings. “We need our money back and cannot forgo it; otherwise, we may be compelled to take legal action to recover the funds,” the chairmen stated.

Their demand comes amid deepening internal crises within the SDP, as several state chapters push for reforms and accountability within the party’s leadership. The chairmen warned that the issue could escalate into a full-blown legal battle if the allegations remain unaddressed.
