The House Committee on the North-West Development Commission (NWDC), has called on wealthy individuals and corporate bodies to support the smooth takeoff of the commission.

The appeal followed the committee’s oversight visit to Kano to assess preparations for the formal commencement of the commission’s operations.

So far, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, founder of MAAUN, has donated a seven-storey building in Kano as the commission’s temporary headquarters, while Alhaji Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA Group provided a facility for the Kano State office.

The Kano State Government has also allocated land for the permanent headquarters.

Committee Chairman, Hon. Sulaiman Gummi, praised the donors for their commitment and urged others from the region to emulate them.

He said the NWDC aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at addressing developmental challenges in the North-West.

NWDC Managing Director, Prof. Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji, disclosed that the temporary headquarters is 95% ready, pending installation of elevators and final furnishing, and commended Fidelity Bank for donating solar systems to boost sustainability.
