Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has dismissed reports of a promotion scandal in the Nigeria Police Force, describing them as false and aimed at tarnishing the Force’s image.
He made this known in Abuja on Tuesday during the decoration of 19 newly promoted senior officers, including DIG Mohammed Dan-Kwara, AIG Nkechi Eze, Force Medical Director, and CP Nandel Gonwalk.
Egbetokun said all promotions under his watch were merit-based and transparent, adding that “there is no promotion scandal in the Nigeria Police Force. What we have is a system that rewards diligence and professionalism.”
He urged the officers to see their new ranks as a call to higher responsibility, stressing the need for integrity, discipline, and technological adaptation to tackle modern security challenges.
