Eberechi Eze came back to haunt his former side as Arsenal edged Crystal Palace 1–0 at the Emirates Stadium, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League.

Eze, who joined Arsenal from Palace last summer for £67.5 million, scored the decisive goal in the first half after Declan Rice’s pass deflected off Ismaïla Sarr, setting up a powerful finish. The strike marked Eze’s first league goal for the Gunners.

The victory was Arsenal’s seventh consecutive win in all competitions, putting them four points clear at the summit. They now sit seven points ahead of Liverpool, who lost 2–0 at Brentford on Saturday, and six ahead of Manchester City, beaten by Aston Villa on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s men will conclude October as league leaders before turning attention to their Carabao Cup clash against Brighton on November 1
