The Super Falcons of Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over Benin Republic in the first leg of their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Stade de Kégué on Friday.
Chinwendu Ihezuo opened the scoring in the 24th minute after connecting with a fine pass from Deborah Abiodun, before Esther Okoronkwo doubled the lead late in the first half, also assisted by Abiodun.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade came close earlier, hitting the woodwork in the seventh minute, as Nigeria dominated possession throughout.
Despite sustained second-half pressure, the Falcons couldn’t extend their lead.
The return leg will hold next Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex, Abeokuta.
