Swift action by security operatives on Friday evening averted a fuel tanker disaster along the Felele Expressway in Kogi State.

FRSC Sector Commander, Tenimu Etuku, said the incident occurred around 5 p.m. when the tank of a truck heading to Abuja detached and rolled into a ditch at the Crusher area.

No lives were lost as the driver and his assistant escaped unhurt.

Etuku said FRSC officials, police, NSCDC, and mobile police units promptly secured the area to prevent residents from scooping fuel.

He urged the community to avoid risky behaviour, recalling the recent Niger State tanker explosion that killed over 40 people.
