Popular content creator Salem King, with over 250,000 Instagram followers, has opened up about his journey, challenges, and growth in the digital space.
In an interview with Faith Ajayi, Salem said he began creating content in 2017 to share lessons and inspire creativity, gaining traction in 2019 after posting daily for 30 days.
“I wasn’t trying to be a content creator; I just wanted to teach young people,” he said.
Salem, who studied Economics, credited his family’s reading culture and corporate work experience for shaping his communication and leadership skills.
He emphasised consistency, authenticity, and connection over trends, noting, “Platforms change, but humans don’t. Behind every number is a real person.”
Overcoming self-doubt and skepticism, he said, taught him that “action beats everything else.”
He urged creators to focus on purpose, not vanity metrics, and to see content creation as a long-term journey.
Through his book Community and initiative “The Crea8torium”, Salem seeks to build Africa’s largest creator network offering mentorship and collaboration opportunities.
