The Young Progressives Party (YPP), Chairman in Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Alhassan Suleiman, has urged Council Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi to restore electricity after two months of total blackout.

Suleiman said vandals destroyed the high-tension cables supplying power to the community, crippling businesses and forcing traders and artisans to shut down operations.

He noted that the outage has also worsened water scarcity, leaving residents to trek long distances for water.

He appealed to the APC-led council to partner with the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), to fix the damaged lines.

Reacting, the Chief of Staff to the council chairman, Mohammed Kandi, said discussions were already held with AEDC to address the problem.
