Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has cautioned his players against underrating the Amazons of Benin Republic as both sides clash today in the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Stade de Kegue, Lome.
Speaking at a press conference, Madugu said the team’s focus is total victory but warned against complacency.
“We know this qualifier leads to the WAFCON, and from there to the World Cup. There’s no room for taking chances,” he said.
He urged his team to look beyond past achievements and stay focused on the task ahead. “It’s a new phase for us. Benin earned their place by defeating other teams, so they deserve respect,” Madugu added.
The return leg holds next Tuesday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.
