The Social Democratic Party (SDP), has expelled its former National Chairman, Shehu Gabam, and several top officials over alleged misconduct, financial misappropriation, and abuse of office.

The decision, announced Thursday in Abuja, followed months of investigation by the party’s Disciplinary Committee and the adoption of a White Paper by the National Working Committee (NWC).

The expelled officials include Gabam, National Youth Leader Ogbonna Chukwuma Uchechukwu, National Auditor Clarkson Nnadi, and others.

Rufus Aiyenigba, SDP National Publicity Secretary, said some expelled members were arrested for allegedly breaking into the party’s national secretariat and stealing sensitive documents. They are facing criminal charges.

Aiyenigba stressed that the action aims to “restore integrity, discipline, and internal order” within the party.

The expulsion took immediate effect from October 23, 2025, and was unanimously approved by the NWC, reaffirming the SDP’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
