The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has warned professional and examination bodies to stop the illegal conduct and award of National Diploma (ND), and Higher National Diploma (HND), certificates.
NBTE’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris Bugaje, in a statement by the Head of Media and Publicity, Mrs. Fatima Abubakar, said the practice violates the board’s establishing Act, which vests sole authority for approving and accrediting ND and HND programmes in the NBTE.
He stressed that only accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), institutions, including polytechnics, colleges of nursing, health, and agriculture are authorised to run such programmes.
Bugaje warned that the board would sanction any body involved in the illegal issuance of ND or HND certificates and urged the public to verify institutions’ accreditation status.
