Northern leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), as their consensus candidate for National Chairman ahead of the party’s convention slated for November 15-16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The endorsement followed a meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, where key Northern stakeholders unanimously agreed on Turaki’s candidacy after extensive consultations.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, who chairs the PDP National Convention Organising Committee, told journalists that the decision reflected the collective will of Northern leaders.
“We have adopted Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as our consensus candidate for the chairmanship position zoned to the North-West. He will represent our region and the entire party at the national convention,” Fintiri said.
The move is expected to boost unity within the party’s Northern bloc ahead of the crucial Ibadan convention.
