Brigadier-General Nicholas Rume has assumed duty as the 23rd Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, pledging to intensify efforts against banditry and insecurity in Kwara and neighbouring states.
His appointment followed a recent redeployment approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede.
The formal handover ceremony between Rume and his predecessor, Brig.-Gen. Ezra Bawa Barkins, was held at the Brigade Headquarters, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin.
Barkins thanked the Army leadership for the opportunity to serve and urged troops to remain disciplined and supportive of the new commander.
In his remarks, Brig.-Gen. Rume promised to build on past achievements and strengthen collaboration with other security agencies to ensure peace and safety across Kwara, Kogi, and Niger States.
