The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling electricity challenges in public hospitals and universities through renewable energy investments.

Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, stated this in a release marking his two years in office, noting that the Renewed Hope Solarisation Project has delivered two-megawatt solar hybrid systems across key institutions.

He said the first phase has been completed at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, General Hospital Bangi, the Enugu Research Centre, and the University of Abuja, with more institutions set for the second phase.

Abdullahi added that the ECN has advanced renewable energy initiatives, including solar mini-grid deployments, a National Energy Policy and Master Plan, and a pilot Green Hydrogen Plant to drive Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
