The Dangote Group has denied ownership of the truck involved in the fatal accident that claimed eight lives in Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.

In a statement on Thursday via its official X handle, the company clarified that the truck with plate number JJJ 365 XB “does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.”

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), had earlier confirmed that the crash occurred when a truck rammed into a commercial bus, killing at least eight people.

Dangote Group explained that checks showed the vehicle was owned by an independent logistics firm and was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks, not Dangote products.

“All authentic Dangote trucks are easily identifiable by distinct company markings and fleet numbers,” the statement added.

While sympathizing with the victims’ families, the company urged the public to verify claims before linking such incidents to it, reaffirming its commitment to road safety and responsible operations.
