Senate President Godswill Akpabio says the recent defections of opposition lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC), are driven by patriotism and confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
Akpabio spoke on Wednesday after leading Senators Agom Jarigbe (Cross River North) and Kaila Samaila (Bauchi North), who recently defected from the PDP, to meet President Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
He said the lawmakers’ decision reflected faith in the president’s reforms and commitment to national development.
“They found it expedient to join in building Nigeria under Mr President’s policies that have turned things around,” Akpabio said.
Senator Jarigbe added that he joined the APC to support Tinubu’s efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy.
