Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was arrested by police at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday shortly after attending a court session.
Sources said the arrest, reportedly ordered by the FCT Police Commissioner, occurred moments after Sowore appeared in a case involving IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.
An associate described the arrest as unexpected, noting that Sowore attended the hearing voluntarily.
He was taken away by police officers shortly after announcing that his client’s legal team would withdraw from the case.
Details of the charges and his detention location remain unclear as of press time.
