The House of Representatives has resolved to intervene in the dispute between the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), and the Dangote Refinery, which has disrupted fuel distribution nationwide.
The decision followed a motion of urgent public importance co-sponsored by Alhassan Doguwa (Kano), and Abdussamad Dasuki (Sokoto), urging protection of key private investments from actions that threaten economic stability.
The industrial dispute, which began on September 29, halted operations at the $20 billion refinery and worsened fuel scarcity across the country.
Doguwa described the refinery as a strategic national asset critical to energy security and warned that unlawful union disruptions could erode investor confidence.
Adopting the motion, the House directed its leadership to mediate between PENGASSAN and the refinery and urged relevant ministries to develop policies safeguarding critical private investments from unlawful union actions.
